Morocco's Geographical Landforms
Morocco's location, in the northwestern corner of the African continent, connects it culturally, climatically, and historically with both the Mediterranean to its north and the rest of Africa to the south and east. The Atlantic and Mediterranean coasts support ocean based industries and farming, as well as tourism on the beautiful beaches. To the east, the Atlas Mountains stand as formidable sentries of a sort, defining a northwestern boundary of the great Sahara Desert.

Ancient African Caravan Routes of the Middle Ages
In times past the formidable Atlas Mountains, standing high on the edge of the Sahara, notified the ancient caravans that they had reached the Maghreb. But, only after the long trek up through the high and rocky passes, then down the other side, could those travelers from the east enter the beautiful and diverse country of Morocco.
